Thought I'd start this blog off about scrubs online with a little history about scrubs in general. Don't know if you've ever thought of it before, but scrubs came to be used for a reason.
In the beginning they were simply called surgical greens. Named by their color, surgical greens have been worn in medical settings from the 70s. There was no certain shade of green required. Green was good enough.
Hospitals were stark white back then, so the green and white contrast made it easier on the eyes.
Another great benefit is obvious. Green helped give a cleanliness to the surgeons whereas white freaked out the family and loved ones of those who had just had surgery!
No matter whether you are a doctor, nurse, or part of the clerical staff, the benefits of scrubs is undeniable. Green scrubs have an interesting history that is ever-evolving. Today, more and more medical professionals are choosing the unique look of fashion scrubs or designer scrubs. Yes, you can have a sterile ensemble while retaining your own personality.
Don't forget this the next time you are buying http://www.zimbio.com/Nursing/articles/--GYB-xLG9w/Scrub+Top+Brands. While no longer green, or only worn by surgeons, the fact remains that it can help to put your patience at ease and diminishes your scariness.
